Mari Shibuya is a fourth generation half Japanese American. She works as a facilitator, muralist and artist. The central theme to her work is the creation of space. As a facilitator, she creates space for transformative, connective group processes using the arts and story to discuss contemporary issues and create community across difference. As a muralist, she creates works that incorporate community to accentuate and activate spaces with art. As an artist, she strives to create work that reflects on our interconnectedness and the cultural and cosmic nature of our identity. A West Coast Native, Shibuya was born in California and raised in the Renton area. She currently lives and works in Seattle.
